Monday, October 7th kicks off our book fair at Clay City Schools! The book fair will be open to students during the school day and during the parent-teacher conferences this week. Check out the photos to browse what will be available. Mrs. Goodrum can't wait to help students shop for books!
Mrs. Klein's second grade class has been gearing up for SpOoKy SeAsOn during writing class! The sweet seconds were able to create their very own monster and creative writing piece describing their monster and what it likes to do!
"Sugar and pumpkin spice and all things nice" would be fitting to describe these little pre-k pumpkins!
Next week, Clay City Elementary will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair! The book fair will be open during the school day October 7-10. Additionally, the book fair will be open for business during Parent-Teacher Conferences on the evenings of October 7 and 10 from 4:30-7:30pm. Students and their families had a stellar time on Tuesday evening with author and singer/songwriter Eric Ode! Ode had the kids up and moving with song and dance while sharing his great books!
There is a sign-up sheet in the high school office for high school boys basketball. Please sign-up soon if you are interested in playing. North Clay will come early next week to pick it up.
If you missed out on ordering any of Eric Ode's books when he visited this week, there is still time to get autographed copies! Students have until Monday, October 7 to get their order in. Please return all order forms to the school.
On October 23, school picture retakes and sports pictures will be happening at Clay City Schools. Athletes, be sure to bring your uniforms and anything else you might need for your pictures. Please contact the school and/or your coach if you have any questions.

📢 TONIGHT: Author & singer/songwriter Eric Ode will be presenting in the main gym at Clay City Schools! The kids enjoyed his program today and he told them he has new material to share tonight. Come participate at Family Literacy Night!
The students have been busy reading! The library has had 1,284 book checkouts since school started on August 15.
There will be a free orthopedic clinic on Wednesday, October 30 at the Clay County Flora Medical Clinic. Dr. Fullop will see children by appointment only. Please call 1-800-272-0074 to schedule or for more information.
On Tuesday, October 1st, award-winning author and songwriter Eric Ode will be at Clay City Schools. Mr. Ode will give a presentation at 1pm for the students. That evening at 6pm, families are welcome to come back to the school and see another presentation by Ode in the main gym. Come out for some exciting, literacy fun!
Weekly Announcements • September 30 - October 4
This past Friday, Mrs. Ahlfield's 3rd grade students were able to learn safety in many different ways at Farm Safety Day sponsored by Clay County Farm Bureau. From how to use a lawn mower properly to a quick lesson on CPR, the students gained a wealth of knowledge on how to stay safe in these situations. They also were able to see what the Jaws Of Life were so that if they ever had to be in that situation, they would be less afraid. The kids had a great day and took away some great information!
On Friday, September 27, Mr. Wattles purchased milkshakes from The Scoop on Main for Mrs. Kuenstler’s 5th grade class.
The class started off by writing a persuasive letter to the principal about September 12th being “National Milkshake Day", trying to persuade the school’s principal to serve milkshakes at our school. Mr. Wattles agreed as long as they earned a milkshake. The class decided on working on transitioning between class periods. The class and Mrs. Kuenstler came up with a goal and if the goal was achieved, milkshakes would be served.
North Clay HS Baseball at Stew-Stras today (Friday 9/27) is cancelled with no makeup date announced.
Clay City JH Cross Country had an outstanding showing at their meet in West Salem on September 26. Brady Martin walked away with a first place finish for the varsity boys. The whole team had stellar finishes and Clay City Schools is very proud of them!
