The November selection for the CCHS Book Club is The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This is the second installment of The Inheritance Games Series. Check out your copy in the library today!
Clay City 8th and 9th graders went on a tour of NAL, one of the largest employers in our area. Students saw the production floor and engaged in a question and answer session on what types of employment and training opportunities were available through NAL. Chaperons were Mr. Brummer, Mrs. Garrison, and Ms. Phegley.
Check out the new look! The SHARE website for the Clay City Schools Library has received a facelift. It still offers students the chance to find materials and place holds online. Please see Mrs. Goodrum if you have any questions.
Sixth grade students had a great time at Tech Fest last week. They participated in activities such as boat building, designing a roller coaster, building a car powered by Newton's laws of motion, coding to move a robot down a path the students designed, and learning about oil retrieval devices made locally by Elastek. They learned a lot while enjoying these STEM activities sponsored by the University of Illinois Extension program and Elastek.
Mrs. Smith, Ms. Sturm, and Ms. Phegley are excited to use the new STEM Lego kits during lunch activity with Junior High students. Mrs. Goodrum purchased the kits with proceeds from the book fair. Stay tuned to see their creations evolve.
Clay City High School Student Council will be hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, October 30. The blood drive will take place at Clay City High School Gym from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.

Meyer Twin Art was at Clay City this evening for a family paint night.
Mrs. Klein’s second graders are continuing their journey through the Little Spot Program sponsored by Carle Health. Students are learning not only how to identify emotions, but how to self regulate when experiencing these emotions. The October lesson featured positivity where students created their own positive pumpkin while learning how to spread positivity throughout their day.
Next week is Red Ribbon Week here at Clay City Schools! From October 28 until November 1, students will have an opportunity to dress up each day as they learn how to say no to drugs.

LOOKING AHEAD::: In honor of our veterans, Clay City Schools will hold a Veterans Day breakfast and assembly. All veterans and their families are invited to join the festivities on Wednesday, November 6. Breakfast will be served at 8am with the assembly to follow. In support of the annual Blue & White Game on Thursday, October 24, students are encouraged to participate in Spirit Day! Wear your blue and white gear to support Clay City!

The Halloween Costume Parade will be held on Thursday, October 31 at 1pm in the Clay City Elementary School Gymnasium. Parents are allowed to come and observe. Please take note of the costume rules for the day. Be sure to come and enjoy the fun!
Clay City Junior High Cross Country will recognize its 8th grade team members on Thursday, October 24 at 5:45pm before the JH Blue & White Basketball Game. Come out and support these students who have represented Clay City this past season!
