
Jocelyn Thompson will be joining Calin Stockwell for the next round of the spelling bee. Jocelyn and Calin will both compete at the ROE level. Congratulations to Calin and Jocelyn! We know they will represent Clay City Schools well!

Mrs. Klein’s second grade class had their February visit with Mrs. Shan from The Little Spot Program sponsored by Carle Health today! They learned about GROWING LOVE and identifying what helps to grow their own LOVE spot!


It's the 100th day of school! Elementary students were able to dress up as a 100 year old, have 100 things on their shirt, or wear their PJs (since they are so tired from all their hard work)! Plenty of students participated in the celebration!








Eighth grader Calin Stockwell won the spelling bee held at FHJHS in Flora on Friday. Clay City placed 1st, North Clay took 2nd, and Flora came in 3rd. Congratulations Calin on a job well done! Also, a big thank you goes to Mrs. Hutton for taking on the role of spelling bee coordinator!

Today's concession proceeds at our 6th grade tournament supports our Junior and 8th grade classes! Come out and watch some basketball, support our students and enjoy some great food!




The 100th day of school is Monday, February 3! Elementary students can dress in one of three ways:
1. Wear a shirt with 100 things on it.
2. Dress as a 100 year old person.
3. Wear pajamas because we are so tired from working 100 days.

Clay City JH hosted a "PINK OUT" basketball game this past December to raise money for Clay County Cancer Crusaders. The Clay County Cancer Crusaders is a nonprofit organization which gives 50% of the donations to help local cancer patients and the remaining 50% is awarded each year to a research facility that Clay County cancer patients benefit from. A big thank you to all who attended the game and donated. Clay City Community Schools were able to raise $697. Clay County Cancer Crusaders representatives Rick Gibbs, Nancy Mills, and Vicki Thompson were presented with a check by principal Brian Wattles and students Chase Bangert and Ellen Tolliver.


Seventh grade student Gracey Sanders and eighth grade student James O'Dell were recently recognized on the local level by the Flora VFW Auxiliary for their Patriot's Pen entries. James was awarded first place and Gracey was awarded second place. The students received congratulatory packages from the VFW Auxiliary. James' writing advanced to the district level where he was awarded second place.
