TONIGHT: Clay City Junior High Basketball will be hosting a Pink Out Night as they host Iuka. Students and fans are encouraged to wear pink while cheering on the Cubs! Mark your calendar and come out for a great cause and to cheer on your Clay City JH Cubs!
Clay City Banking Co. has brought in jars of candies for elementary, junior high, and high school students to guess the amounts. The elementary winner will win a Santa Box curated by Clay County CEO. The junior high and high school winners will win a gift certificate. Encourage your student to stop by the library to make their guess! Winners will be announced on Friday, December 20.
Clay City Elementary School presented its annual Christmas program on December 12. The school presented Christmas at the Movies, in which they sang holiday songs from all the great Christmas movies. The program was overseen by fourth grade teacher Mrs. French. There was a wonderful turnout of family and friends to support the students. The elementary students did a fantastic job showing off some of their holiday spirit!
Clay City FFA provided biscuits and gravy along with taco in a bag during the cheer competition on Saturday. The students were up and at the school bright and early to support these junior high athletes!
Clay City Preschool held their Christmas Party on Friday evening. Students and their families were invited to have refreshments and craft. A great time was had by all - just look at those smiles!
Two more students joined our 10 point club and one student joined the 50 point club! Way to go! Great way to round out the semester!

Congratulations to Phillip Ray! Phillip won the 50/50 drawing at the Tournament on Saturday. The Clay City Junior Class sold the raffle tickets. Thank you to all who participated.
Every second grader met their AR goal! Mr. Wattles was so impressed with Mrs. Klein's second graders that he made a call to Mrs. Claus and then surprised the students with pizza gift certificates to Casey's. The kids were so excited! Congratulations second grade on being some awesome readers!
THIS SATURDAY - Clay City JH Cheerleaders will host the Annual WEAA Cheer Conference and JV Scrimmages. Conference JV teams will come and get some court time while their cheer squads hold competition. Contests start at 9:00am. Admission is $3.00 for high school students and older, $2.00 for those younger than high school. Clay City FFA will be selling taco in a bag and biscuits and gravy from 8:30am-1pm. Additionally, Clay City Boosters will be manning the concession stand and will have hot dogs. Come on out, catch some basketball, and cheer on these cheerleaders as they compete!
REMINDER: There is no CCJH basketball practice today - Thursday, December 12 - due to the elementary Christmas program this evening.
Plenty of students participated in the Meyer Twin Art: Christmas Workshop last night. The students made some great works of art!
Holiday Dress Up Week is NEXT WEEK! December 16th through the 20th will have dress-up days to celebrate the upcoming holiday. Please remember the school dress code applies to all dress-up days. Start pulling that festive wear out of the closet and join in on the fun!
Miss Fender's first graders had an ugly Christmas sweater contest. There were two winners selected who had the most creative designs. However, everyone did such a great job they all got a sticker for their hard work!

Attention K-2 Students: Birthday in a Bag is coming up! Students may bring a snack and a drink (no soda) this Friday - December 13. It is to celebrate all birthdays in each month! Please contact your classroom teacher if you have any questions.
