Read Across America Week is celebrated from March 2 to 6 — it begins on the birthday of Dr. Seuss. In celebration, Clay City Schools will have dress up days for pre-k through 8th grade Monday, March 3 through Thursday, March 6. Below is the dress up schedule so start looking through that closet and find what you might wear to celebrate! Please contact Mrs. Goodrum if you have any questions or concerns.
REMINDER: CCJH Track season is just around the corner! Track is for students grades 5-8. Athlete paperwork and fees are due Friday, February 28. Keep in mind that students cannot participate without appropriate paperwork turned in. Please contact Coach Mitchel if you have any questions.

A number of students have already met goals for the American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge! Additionally, Clay City Schools had their kickoff assembly with AHA Rep Ms. Donahue.
Eighth grade science students have been learning about acids and bases. They made predictions about some common solutions and tested their predictions in a lab activity. It was a simple lab, but they were completely engaged in the process and their results.
CCJH Track season is just around the corner! Track is for students grades 5-8. Track shirt order forms (optional) are due tomorrow - Friday, February 21. Athlete paperwork and fees are due next Friday, February 28. Please contact Coach Mitchel if you have any questions.
Mrs. Kuenstler's 5th graders read the story "Winter's Tail" and the short story "Gulf Spill Superheroes". Both stories discussed ocean (marine animals) and the effect of pollution and possible dangers that can harm marine animals/mammals. The students did a project where they chose a marine animal/mammal and did research. The assignment was to complete a parts of speech poem, a factual essay, and an illustration of their marine animal/mammal in their natural habitat.
In anticipation of Presidents Day, Mrs. Kuenstler's 5th grade class chose two presidents past or present and did some research. They had to bring in the skills of using a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the differences and similarities that the presidents may have had or have in common.
All after school tutoring is canceled for Thursday 2/20/2025. Tutoring will resume 2/25/2025.
